<h1>Government exempts certain chemicals used in bulk drug production from excise duty under Notification No. 35/91-C.E.</h1> The Central Government, under the authority of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944, has issued Notification No. 35/91-C.E., dated July 25, 1991, exempting specified goods within Chapter 28 or 29 of the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985, from excise duty. These goods, used in the manufacture of bulk drugs listed in the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 1987, include chemicals such as Meta Aminophenol, Para Nitrochlorobenzene, and Citric Acid, among others. The exemption applies from September 1, 1991, and requires adherence to procedures if used outside the production factory, as per Chapter X of the Central Excise Rules, 1944.
