of <h1>Excise Duty Rates Increased for Tyres under Section 5A of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944.</h1> The Central Government, under the authority of section 5A of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944, has amended the notification No. 58/88-Central Excises, dated March 1, 1988. This amendment, effective from March 1, 1992, revises the excise duty rates for tyres listed in the notification. Specifically, the duty for certain tyres has been increased from Rs. 30 to Rs. 32 per tyre and from Rs. 90 to Rs. 95 per tyre, as indicated in the table annexed to the original notification. This change is deemed necessary in the public interest.
