<h1>New Notification Exempts Specific Iron and Steel Products from Excise Duty; Details Supersede Previous Notification No. 60/90-C.E.</h1> The Central Government, under the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944, has issued Notification No. 34/92-C.E. dated March 1, 1992, which exempts certain iron and steel products from excise duty beyond specified rates. This notification supersedes the previous Notification No. 60/90-Central Excises. The exempted items include various forms of pig iron, ferrous products, waste and scrap, granules, powders, semi-finished products, flat-rolled products, bars, rods, angles, shapes, sections, wires, and tubes, with specific rates detailed in an annexed table. The rates vary, with some products taxed at Rs. 400-1500 per tonne and others at 10% ad valorem.
