of <h1>Central Government raises excise duty on wires and cables per Section 5A; rates increased under Notification No. 39/92-C.E.</h1> The Central Government, under the authority of Section 5A of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944, issued Notification No. 39/92-C.E. on March 1, 1992, amending previous excise duty notifications. For Notification No. 69/86, the ad valorem duty rates were increased from 15% to 20% and from 20% to 25% for specific items, with certain entries omitted. Similarly, for Notification No. 116/90, the duty rates were adjusted from 15% to 20% and from 20% to 25% for specified entries. These amendments reflect changes in excise duties on wires and cables under Chapter 85.
