of <h1>Central Government exempts aeroplanes and helicopters from excise duty under Notification No. 42/92-C.E. per section 5A.</h1> The Central Government, exercising its authority under section 5A of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944, has issued Notification No. 42/92-C.E. dated March 1, 1992. This notification exempts aeroplanes and helicopters classified under sub-heading No. 8802.00 of the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985, from the entire duty of excise specified in the Schedule. This exemption is deemed necessary in the public interest.
