of <h1>Government Exempts Sterile Contact Lens Care Solution from Excess Excise Duty under Section 5A of Excise Act 1944</h1> The Central Government, under the authority of Section 5A of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944, has issued Notification No. 57/92-C.E. dated April 30, 1992, to exempt sterile contact lens care solution classified under sub-heading No. 3307.90 of the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985, from a portion of the excise duty. The exemption applies to the duty amount exceeding a rate of 15% ad valorem, as specified in the schedule of the Central Excise Tariff Act. This decision is made in the public interest.
