of <h1>Central Government Sets 10% Excise Duty on GIST Cards for Multilingual Computers Under Notification No. 55/93-C.E.</h1> The Central Government has issued Notification No. 55/93-C.E., dated February 28, 1993, under the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944, prescribing an effective duty rate of 10% ad valorem on Graphic and Intelligence based Script Technology (GIST) cards classified under Heading No. 84.73 of the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985. This exemption applies to GIST cards used in multi-lingual computers, reducing the excise duty to 10% in the interest of the public.
