Government Exempts State-Manufactured Goods from Excise Duty for Public Use Under Notification No. 74/93-C.E.
The Central Government, under the authority of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944, exempts certain goods from excise duty. These goods, detailed in the attached table, must be manufactured by a State Government factory and intended for use by any department of that government. The specified goods include those under Chapter 86 and various headings and sub-headings of the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985. This exemption is granted in the public interest, effective from March 1, 1989, as per Notification No. 74/93-C.E. dated February 28, 1993.
