of <h1>Amendment Expands SSI Exemption: More Entities Now Eligible Under Central Excises Act, 1944, Effective March 31, 1993.</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. 1/93-Central Excises, dated February 28, 1993, under the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944. This amendment, effective March 31, 1993, modifies paragraph 4, second proviso, by replacing the words 'Khadi and Village Industries Commission or of the State Khadi and Village Industries Board' with 'Khadi and Village Industries Commission, the State Khadi and Village Industries Board, the National Small Industries Corporation or the State Small Industries Development Corporation.' This change reflects an expansion of entities eligible for the exemption under the Small Scale Industries (SSI) category.
