of <h1>Government Amends Excise Notifications: New Exemptions for Non-Power Processed Fabrics and Duty on Processed Fabrics Added.</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification Nos. 45/95-C.E. and 47/95-C.E. under the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944, and the Additional Duties of Excise Act, 1957, in the public interest. For Notification No. 45/95-C.E., a new entry has been added exempting certain fabrics processed without power or steam from excise duty. For Notification No. 47/95-C.E., the amendment specifies that fabrics not exceeding 30 cm in width, whether containing elastomeric yarn or not, are exempt from duty if unprocessed, but processed fabrics are subject to a 10% ad valorem duty.
