of <h1>Central Government Amends Rule 173H of Central Excise Rules, 1944; Adds 'or the Collector' to Sub-rule (1).</h1> The Central Government, using powers from Section 37 of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944, has issued the Central Excise (9th Amendment) Rules, 1989. Effective from the date of publication in the Official Gazette, this amendment modifies Rule 173H of the Central Excise Rules, 1944. Specifically, in sub-rule (1), the amendment inserts the words 'or the Collector' after 'Principal Collector' in the second proviso.
