Rescission of central excise officer appointments under Central Excises and Salt Act restores regulatory control over appointments. The Central Board of Excise and Customs, invoking clause (b) of Section 2 of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944 and Rule 4 of the Central Excise Rules, 1944, rescinds Notification Nos. 330/86-Central Excises and 464/86-Central Excises, withdrawing those earlier notifications that had appointed central excise officers.
