of <h1>Amendment to Central Excise Rules 1990: Rule 57A Updated to Include Plastic Bags or Sacks in Clause (b).</h1> The Central Excise (Eighth Amendment) Rules, 1990, effective from its publication date, amends the Central Excise Rules, 1944. Under the authority of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944, the amendment modifies sub-rule (1) of rule 57A. Specifically, it omits the word 'or' at the end of sub-clause (iv) in clause (b) of the Explanation, replaces the period with 'chests; or' in sub-clause (v), and introduces a new sub-clause (vi) to include 'bags or sacks made out of fabric' woven from plastic strips or tapes, whether coated or not.
