Government Updates Excise Rules: Key Amendments to Rules 52A, 57GG, and 57G Effective January 19, 1995
The Central Government has amended the Central Excise Rules, 1944, under the Central Excise (Amendment) Rules, 1995, effective from January 19, 1995. The amendments include changes to sub-rule (6) of rule 52A and sub-rule (5) of rule 57GG, replacing the phrase 'running for the whole year beginning on the 1st January' with 'running for the whole financial year beginning on the 1st April.' Additionally, in rule 57G, sub-rule (2), the term 'or Bill of Entry' is replaced with 'Bill of Entry, a certificate issued by an Appraiser of Customs posted in Foreign Post Office.' Rule 57GG now requires invoices to be made in quadruplicate, with each copy designated for specific purposes and marked accordingly.
