of <h1>Central Government Amends Central Excise Rules, 1996: Key Date Changes in Rule 57H and Reference Update in Rule 57-I</h1> The Central Government, exercising its powers under the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944, has issued the Central Excise (Fourth Amendment) Rules, 1996. Effective upon publication in the Official Gazette, this amendment modifies the Central Excise Rules, 1944. Specifically, in sub-rule (1) of rule 57H, the effective dates are changed from '1st August, 1996' to '1st September, 1996' and from '1st August, 1996' to '30th September, 1966.' Additionally, in sub-rule (5) of rule 57-I, the reference is updated from 'sub-rule (2)' to 'clause (ii) of sub-rule (1).'
