<h1>Central Excise Commissioner in Tiruchirapalli Authorized to Investigate and Adjudicate Cases Nationwide Under Rule 4, 1944.</h1> The Central Board of Excise and Customs has issued Notification No. 38/96-C.E.(N.T.) dated December 11, 1996, granting the Commissioner of Central Excise in Tiruchirapalli the authority to investigate and adjudicate cases across India. This power is conferred under clause (b) of section 2 of the Central Excise Act, 1944, and rule 4 of the Central Excise Rules, 1944. The Commissioner will handle cases assigned by the Central Board of Excise and Customs, exercising the powers of a Commissioner of Central Excise nationwide.
