India Updates Customs Duty Rates: New Amendments Include Tech and Manufacturing Items, Effective March 2002

The Government of India has issued amendments to the notification No. 21/2002-Customs, effective from 1st March 2002, concerning the effective rate of customs duty. These amendments, published on 7th July 2009, include changes to the preamble and various entries in the notification's table, such as the addition of items like knitted ribs, metal fittings, and various materials for manufacturing harness and saddlery items. New entries include permanent magnets for wind generators and LCD panels for TVs, among others. The amendments also introduce new conditions and update several lists, affecting items like medical devices, bio-diesels, and various machinery.
