of <h1>Central Govt Amends Excise Duty Rates to 8% on Specific Goods Listed in First Schedule, Effective July 7, 2009.</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. 10/2006-Central Excise, effective from March 1, 2006, under the Central Excise Act, 1944. These amendments, issued on July 7, 2009, alter the effective rate of duty on specified goods listed in the First Schedule to the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985. Specifically, the duty rate for entries under serial numbers 1, 2, 3, 8, and 9 in the notification's table has been changed to 8%. This amendment is made in the public interest and follows previous amendments, including the one dated December 7, 2008.
