of <h1>Amendments to Excise Notification: New Exemption for Synthetic Filament Tow in Textile Industry under Section 5A.</h1> The Central Government has issued amendments to Notification No. 30/2004-Central Excise, concerning exemptions for specified goods in chapters 50 to 63, particularly textile and textile articles. The amendment, effective from July 7, 2009, adds a new entry under serial number 10A, covering synthetic or artificial filament tow procured externally and subjected to a 'tow-to-top' process. This exemption applies to manufacturers lacking facilities to produce goods under heading numbers 5501 and 5502. This amendment is made under the authority of section 5A of the Central Excise Act, 1944, in the public interest.
