of <h1>Amended Excise Notification Expands SSI Exemption List to Include Printed Laminated Rolls Under Clause (e) Paragraph 4</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. 8/2003-Central Excise, effective from April 1, 2003, concerning the Small Scale Industry (SSI) exemption for units not availing CENVAT credit. As per Notification No. 9/2009, dated July 7, 2009, the amendment involves a change in paragraph 4, clause (e), where the list of items 'PP caps, crown corks, metal labels, plastic bags' is expanded to include 'printed laminated rolls.' This amendment is made under the powers conferred by the Central Excise Act, 1944, in the interest of public welfare.
