This amendment introduces a new entry, S.No. 291A, to the notification table, exempting parts, components, and accessories of mobile handsets, including cellular phones, from customs duties. This change is implemented in the public interest, as per the powers granted under section 25(1) of the Customs Act. The principal notification was initially published on March 1, 2001, and was last amended on October 31, 2001.
