of <h1>2009 Notification Appoints Excise Intelligence Officers as Customs Officers with Nationwide Jurisdiction, Superseded by 2014 Update.</h1> The notification dated March 17, 2009, issued by the Central Board of Excise and Customs, appoints officers from the Directorate General of Central Excise Intelligence as officers of Customs. This appointment is made under the powers conferred by the Customs Act, 1962, and supersedes a previous notification from May 9, 2000. The notification specifies the ranks and jurisdictions of these officers, ranging from the Director General, who is appointed as Chief Commissioner with jurisdiction over all of India, to Intelligence Officers, who are appointed as Inspectors or Preventive Officers. This notification was later superseded by Notification No. 80/2014 on September 16, 2014.
