Authority under the Code on Wages designated for wage-law powers across India under the Central Government's jurisdiction. Central Government notification under the proviso to section 39(1) of the Code on Wages, 2019 specifies the authorised officer for establishments under its jurisdiction. The Chief Labour Commissioner (Central) is designated as the authority for the whole of India. The notification supersedes the earlier 1965 notification, subject to saving of prior acts or omissions.
