of <h1>Footwear SEZ in Tamil Nadu Starts Feb 20, 2009; Recognized as Inland Container Depot Under Customs Act, 1962</h1> The Central Government has designated February 20, 2009, as the commencement date for the footwear sector Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at Park, Irungattukottai SIPCOT Industrial Park, Sriperumbudur Taluk, Kancheepuram District, Tamil Nadu. This SEZ, developed by the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited, will be recognized as an Inland Container Depot under the Customs Act, 1962, as per the powers granted by the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005.
