<h1>Govt Approves New IT Special Economic Zone in Durgapur, West Bengal; 25 Acres Allocated for Development</h1> The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has approved the establishment of a sector-specific Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for information technology and IT-enabled services in Bidhannagar Township, Durgapur, District Burdwan, West Bengal. This approval was granted to a private infrastructure development company under the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005. The designated area for the SEZ covers 25 acres, equating to 10.12 hectares, across specific plots in the Gopinathpur region. The notification was issued by the Central Government on February 9, 2009, following the fulfillment of all legal and procedural requirements.
