Livestock import notification amendment classifies animal-origin products and prescribes permit and NOC exemptions with inspection conditions
Amendment to a livestock import notification expands and classifies categories of animal-origin products by inserting new sub-paragraphs listing raw and minimally processed items (bristles, raw skins, raw hides, furskins) and prescribing exceptions. It creates two operative paragraphs: 3(I) exempts specified products (e.g., horsehair, gelatin, tanned hides, leather goods, wool) from requiring a sanitary import permit but makes import subject to a No Objection Certificate issued after inspection by designated Animal Quarantine and Certification Services officers; 3(II) exempts another set of manufactured articles (e.g., saddlery, leather apparel, furs, certain yarns and fabrics) from both sanitary permits and NOCs. The amendment is effective from notification date.
