of <h1>Restricted livestock product imports into India require sanitary permits, risk analysis and quarantine controls under new notification</h1> Notifies a comprehensive list of restricted livestock products and prescribes that importation is permitted only against a sanitary import permit obtained after a detailed import risk analysis based on internationally recognised scientific principles; if analysis shows novel disease risk, permit is refused. Permits specify pre-shipment certification, quarantine checks, post-import sampling and testing; validity: one year for processed products, six months (extendable six months) for unprocessed products. Certain product categories are exempted from permits but require No Objection Certificates or no regulation as specified. Designated entry points and Animal Quarantine and Certification Services Stations conduct inspections, clearance, treatment, destruction or return; importer bears inspection and treatment costs. The Central Government may relax conditions in public interest.
