of <h1>National Savings Certificates VIII Scheme interest and maturity tables for 1 Apr 2023 onwards updated; earlier rates limited.</h1> Amends the National Savings Certificates (VIII Issue) Scheme, 2019 with retrospective effect from 1 April 2023 by limiting the applicability of the prior interest/maturity provisions for accounts/certificates 'on or after 1 January 2023' to those opened or purchased between 1 January 2023 and 31 March 2023 (both inclusive), thereby confining those rates and values to that period. Prescribes, for accounts opened and certificates purchased on or after 1 April 2023, a revised maturity value for a deposit of 1,000 rupees (and proportionate for other eligible deposits) with rounding of fractional rupees to the nearest rupee, and inserts a new annual interest accrual table for the five-year term, thereby determining the maturity proceeds and year-wise accrued interest for such holdings. Inserts a new table of premature closure values for accounts opened on or after 1 April 2023, thereby fixing the payable amounts (inclusive of interest) for specified closure periods between three years and five years.
