Government authorises more bank branches for Capital Gains Account Scheme deposits under clause (e) of paragraph 2 notification
Central Government, through the Central Board of Direct Taxes, authorises all non-rural branches of specified banks to receive deposits and maintain accounts under the Capital Gains Account Scheme, 1988. This notification, issued under clause (e) of paragraph 2 of the Scheme and in continuation of earlier notifications, extends authorisation to non-rural branches of several private sector and other scheduled banks across India. Rural branches are expressly excluded, defined as branches located in centres with a population of less than 10,000 as per the 2011 Census. The notification is issued by the Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue, Tax Policy and Legislation.
