of <h1>Telangana Amends GST Rates: 2.5% on Jaggery, 6% on Pencil Sharpeners; Effective March 1, 2023.</h1> The Government of Telangana has issued an amendment to Notification No. 1/2017-State Tax (Rate) through G. O. Ms. No. 115, dated August 25, 2023. Under the Telangana Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, the amendment modifies tax rates for specific items. In Schedule I, a 2.5% tax rate applies to all types of jaggery and khandsari sugar when pre-packaged and labeled. Schedule II introduces a 6% tax rate for pencil sharpeners. In Schedule III, a 9% tax rate excludes pencil sharpeners. These changes take effect on March 1, 2023.
