of <h1>Odisha GST Update: 2.5% Tax on Jaggery, New 6% Tax on Pencil Sharpeners, Effective March 1, 2023.</h1> The Government of Odisha has amended Notification No. 19829-FIN-CT1-TAX-0022/2017 under the Odisha Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017. Effective from March 1, 2023, changes include: in Schedule I, a 2.5% tax rate applies to all types of jaggery and khandsari sugar, both pre-packaged and labeled; in Schedule II, a new entry for pencil sharpeners is added with a 6% tax rate; and in Schedule III, a 9% tax rate applies with an exclusion for pencil sharpeners. These amendments follow recommendations from the GST Council.
