of <h1>Excise Duty on Petrol and Diesel Revised to Rs.1/Litre Effective November 16, 2023, per Central Government Notification /2023.</h1> The Central Government has issued Notification No. 39/2023-Central Excise, amending the previous Notification No. 04/2022-Central Excise dated June 30, 2022. This amendment changes the Special Additional Excise Duty rate on petrol and diesel. Specifically, the duty rate in the table against Serial No. 2 is revised to 'Rs.1 per litre.' This amendment is made under the authority of the Central Excise Act, 1944, and the Finance Act, 2002, and will take effect on November 16, 2023. The amendment is deemed necessary in the public interest.
