of <h1>Govt Exempts Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission Income u/s 10(46), Retrospective for AY 2022-23 & 2023-24.</h1> The Central Government has issued Notification No. 55/2023, exempting specified income of the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (for Goa and Union Territories except Delhi) from total income under Section 10(46) of the Income-tax Act, 1961. The exempted incomes include petition fees, license fees, reimbursement of Ombudsman expenses, profit from asset disposal, and related interest. The exemption is subject to conditions that the Commission does not engage in commercial activities, maintains the nature of income, and files income returns per legal requirements. This applies retrospectively to assessment years 2022-23 and 2023-24, covering financial years 2021-2022 and 2022-2023.
