of <h1>Maharashtra Amends GST Rates: 2.5% on Jaggery, 6% on Pencil Sharpeners, 9% on Other Items Effective March 1.</h1> The Government of Maharashtra has issued Notification No. 3/2023 to amend Notification No. 01/2017-State Tax (Rate) under the Maharashtra Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017. Effective from March 1, 2023, the amendments include changes to tax rates on certain goods. In Schedule I, the entry for S. No. 91A is updated to include all types of jaggery and khandsari sugar, pre-packaged and labelled, at a 2.5% rate. Schedule II introduces a 6% rate for pencil sharpeners under S. No. 186A. Schedule III specifies a 9% rate for items excluding pencil sharpeners at S. No. 302A.
