of <h1>Karnataka GST Amendment: Jaggery and Khandsari Sugar at 2.5%, Pencil Sharpeners Added at 6% Tax Rate.</h1> The Government of Karnataka has amended Notification No. FD 48 CSL 2017 under the Karnataka Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017. Effective from March 1, 2023, these amendments include changes to tax schedules: Schedule I now lists jaggery and khandsari sugar as taxable at 2.5% when pre-packaged and labelled. Schedule II introduces pencil sharpeners as a taxable item at 6%. Schedule III clarifies that pencil sharpeners are excluded from certain entries taxed at 9%. These amendments were made following recommendations from the Council.
