of <h1>Goa Amends GST Rates: Jaggery & Khandsari Sugar at 2.5%, Pencil Sharpeners at 6%, Exclusions at 9.</h1> The Government of Goa has amended Notification No. 38/1/2017-Fin(R&C)(1/2017-Rate) dated June 30, 2017, under the Goa Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017. Effective March 1, 2023, the amendments include changes in tax rates for specific items: Schedule I (2.5%) now includes all types of jaggery and khandsari sugar, pre-packaged and labelled; Schedule II (6%) adds pencil sharpeners; and Schedule III (9%) specifies exclusions for pencil sharpeners. These changes were made following the Council's recommendations and are published by the Department of Finance, Revenue & Control Division, Government of Goa.
