of <h1>Central Government Cancels SEZ for Biotechnology in Thane, Maharashtra; Land to Follow State Industrial Policies.</h1> The Central Government has rescinded the notification establishing a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for the Biotechnology Sector in Village Owale, Thane, Maharashtra, initially approved for Mahindra Gesco Developers Limited and later transferred to Mahindra and Mahindra Limited. The de-notification covers an area of 22.327 hectares, following a proposal supported by the State Government of Maharashtra and the SEEPZ Development Commissioner. The developer has committed to using the land in accordance with state industrial policies and guidelines, excluding residential or non-industrial purposes. The rescission does not affect actions taken prior to this decision.
