Mizoram Amends GST Act: Curd, Lassi, Buttermilk, Jaggery Exempt if Not Pre-Packaged, Effective July 18, 2022.
The Government of Mizoram has amended Notification No. 2/2017-State Tax (Rate) under the Mizoram Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017. Effective from July 18, 2022, the amendments specify that certain goods listed in the Schedule, including curd, lassi, buttermilk, jaggery, and khandsari sugar, are exempt from the tax rate if they are not pre-packaged and labelled. The definition of 'pre-packaged and labelled' aligns with the Legal Metrology Act, 2009. Additionally, some serial numbers and entries in the Schedule have been omitted. These changes were made following the recommendations of the Council.
