of <h1>Kerala GST Amendment: Exempts Electric Vehicle Hire Services for Local Authorities from August 2019, Boosting Public Interest.</h1> The Government of Kerala has amended Notification No. 73/2017/TAXES, dated 30th June 2017, under the Kerala State Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017. Effective from 1st August 2019, the amendment introduces a clause exempting the supply of services involving the hire of electrically operated vehicles, designed to carry more than twelve passengers, to local authorities. These vehicles are defined as those running solely on electrical energy from external sources or batteries, as per the Customs Tariff Act, 1975. This change is based on recommendations from the Goods and Services Tax Council and aims to promote public interest.
