of <h1>Punjab Mandates New GST Registration for Insolvent Companies Under IBC, 2016; Effective March 21, 2020.</h1> The notification from the Government of Punjab mandates that corporate debtors under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016, undergoing insolvency resolution must register as distinct entities under the Punjab Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017. Upon the appointment of interim or resolution professionals, these entities must obtain new GST registrations in each state or union territory within 30 days. They are required to file returns from the date of registration liability and can claim input tax credits on certain invoices. The notification also allows for refunds of amounts deposited in the cash ledger under previous registrations. This notification is effective from March 21, 2020.
