of <h1>Punjab Mandates Aadhaar Authentication for GST Registration: Applies to Firms and HUFs from April 1, 2020.</h1> The Government of Punjab, through the Department of Excise and Taxation, issued a notification mandating that specific classes of persons, other than individuals, must authenticate their Aadhaar numbers to be eligible for GST registration. This applies to authorized signatories, managing and authorized partners of partnership firms, and the Karta of Hindu undivided families. If Aadhaar numbers are not assigned, alternate identification methods will be provided. This requirement, under the Punjab Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, and related rules, is effective from April 1, 2020.
