of <h1>Assam mandates Aadhaar authentication for GST registration for certain entities under Assam GST Act, 2017, effective April 2020.</h1> The Government of Assam, under the Assam Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, mandates that certain classes of persons, excluding individuals, must authenticate their Aadhaar numbers for GST registration eligibility. This includes authorized signatories, managing and authorized partners of partnership firms, and the Karta of Hindu undivided families. If an Aadhaar number is unavailable, alternative identification methods will be provided as per the Assam GST Rules, 2017. This notification, issued by the Governor of Assam and recommended by the Council, is effective from April 1, 2020.
