of <h1>India Imposes 5% Provisional Duty on Malaysian Palm Oil Imports for 180 Days to Protect Domestic Producers.</h1> The Government of India confirmed a provisional 5% increase in customs duty on imports of 'Refined Bleached Deodorized Palmolein and Refined Bleached Deodorized Palm Oil' from Malaysia under the India-Malaysia Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement. This duty applies for 180 days from September 4, 2019, as per Notification No. 29/2019-Cus. The Directorate General of Trade Remedies recommended this measure to prevent irreparable harm to domestic producers. The final findings indicated that the existing 180-day safeguard duty is adequate, and no extension is necessary. The duty aligns with changes in import policy and customs agreements.
