of <h1>India Updates GST Rules: Silver & Platinum Supplies Now Exempt from UTGST for Registered Buyers per Notification No. 17/2019.</h1> The Government of India, through Notification No. 17/2019, amends Notification No. 26/2018 to exempt Union Territory Goods and Services Tax (UTGST) on supplies of silver and platinum by nominated agencies to registered persons. This amendment, effective from October 1, 2019, changes references from 'gold' to 'gold, silver, or platinum' and updates the classification from 'heading 7108' to 'Chapter 71' in accordance with the Customs Tariff Act, 1975. The amendment is made under the authority of the Union Territory Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, following recommendations from the Council.
