of <h1>India Appoints New Statistics Officer with Nationwide Jurisdiction, Including Jammu & Kashmir, Under Collection of Statistics Act, 2008.</h1> The Government of India, through the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has amended the appointment of a new Statistics Officer under the Collection of Statistics Act, 2008. This notification, dated 16th July 2019, appoints a new Director as the Statistics Officer, granting them the authority to exercise powers under the Act. The appointed officer is based at the Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics in Kolkata, with jurisdiction across India, including Jammu & Kashmir. This appointment modifies a previous notification from September 2015.
