of <h1>Deadline Extended for New PAN Series Application to June 30, 1998, per Section 139A Amendment</h1> The Central Board of Direct Taxes has amended Notification S.O. 123(E) dated 11th February 1998, under section 139A of the Income-tax Act, 1961. The amendment specifies that individuals and entities with permanent account numbers, not under the new series, must apply for a new series number by 30th June 1998, instead of the previously set deadline of 30th April 1998, for the assessment year 1997-98. This change is issued by the Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue, and signed by the Under Secretary to the Government of India.
