of <h1>SEBI Updates Merchant Bankers Regulations: Renewal Applications Simplified, Exclusive Securities Market Operations Mandated Post-June 1998.</h1> The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) issued an amendment to the Merchant Bankers Regulations, 1992, effective upon publication in the Official Gazette. The 1998 amendment adds a proviso to Regulation 9, sub-regulation (2), allowing renewal applications for registration certificates to bypass certain provisions until June 30, 1998. Additionally, Regulation 13A is modified to specify that after June 30, 1998, entities under these regulations must exclusively conduct business in the securities market. This amendment follows previous updates made to the original 1992 regulations in 1995, 1996, and 1997.
