Key changes include requirements for societies with credit-related or multi-purpose functions to register in two states or union territories, obtain a no objection certificate, and verify promoters' credentials. Societies, except National Cooperative Societies, are restricted from using certain nationalistic terms in their names. Additionally, non-cooperative bank societies may open branches nationwide with Central Registrar approval, contingent on proper functioning. These amendments took effect upon publication in the Official Gazette.
