of <h1>India Extends Additional Protection to Wines and Spirits Under Geographical Indication Act, Section 22(3.</h1> The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, through the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, issued a notification on October 1, 2010, under the Geographical Indication of Goods (Registration and Protection) Act, 1999. This notification, identified as S.O. 2401(E), extends additional protection to certain goods as specified in Section 22(3) of the Act. The Central Government, satisfied with the necessity of this extension, has listed wines and spirits in the Schedule for additional protection under the Act. This measure aims to enhance the protection of these goods' geographical indications.
