of <h1>GIC Mutual Fund Recognized as Public Financial Institution Under Section 10(23D) of Income-tax Act, 1961</h1> The Central Government has designated 'GIC Mutual Fund,' established by the General Insurance Corporation of India, as a mutual fund of a public financial institution under clause (23D) of section 10 of the Income-tax Act, 1961. This designation applies for the assessment year 1991-92 and subsequent years. The GIC Mutual Fund includes its four wholly-owned subsidiaries: National Insurance Company Limited, New India Assurance Company Limited, Oriental Insurance Company Limited, and United India Insurance Company Limited. This specification was issued by the Deputy Secretary to the Government of India, effective from February 28, 1991.
